O’Fallon Casting Intern, Taylor Thornhill, has been presented with a $2500 Scholarship by the Investment Casting Institute. The Scholarship was awarded this October at the ICI 61st Conference and Expo held in Covington, KY.
Taylor interned at O’Fallon Casting through the spring and summer of 2014. His projects centered on the front end of the business from wax pattern through foundry with special emphasis on the ceramic shell. His broader experience included learning skills such as solidification modeling and technical interfaces with the OFC supply base.
Scholarship awards are based on academic performance, work quality, experience and the expressed desire to pursue a career in the investment casting industry. The scholarship program addresses a strategic goal of the ICI to encourage more graduates to work in the investment casting industry.
Taylor is in his senior year of studying metallurgical engineering at Missouri University of Science & Technology. Commenting on the award Taylor said that “It was O'Fallon Casting's great leadership in the industry, and particularly your encouragement toward me, that got my application considered.”
