The Show-Me Heroes program, established by Missouri Governor Jay Nixon in January 2010, is designed to connect military veterans with job opportunities when they return home from service. Administered by the Missouri Division of Workforce Development, Show-Me Heroes showcases Missouri businesses that are willing and eager to hire veterans. Employers participating in the Show-Me Heroes program sign a pledge to ramp up efforts to reach out to, recruit and interview veterans for job openings at their business.
Human Resource Manager Joe Kaufman reaffirmed the pledge this year stating “I am writing on behalf of our organization, O’Fallon Casting, to inform you that we are in full support of the Veterans employment initiatives undertaken by the State of Missouri and the Show-Me Heroes program. As an organization, we acknowledge the sacrifices members of our Armed Forces have made in order to preserve our national security. Furthermore, we accept that our Veterans and members of our National Guard and Reserve possess the degree of training, education, motivation and character that will prove vital to Missouri’s economic success.”
Veterans have been hired by O’Fallon Casting through the Show-Me Heroes program. On October 23rd 2013 Human Resources Manager Joe Kaufman and CFO Susan Boyle accepted the Show-Me Heroes “Flag of Freedom” award from Local Veterans Employment Representative, Jerry Studstill.
The “Flag of Freedom” award reads as follows:
“On behalf of Governor Jay Nixon the Missouri Department of Labor / Department of Workforce Development O’Fallon Casting is awarded the Show-Me Heroes “Flag of Freedom” award, which consists of a plaque featuring an American flag patch from the combat uniform of a member of the Missouri National Guard worn while that Citizen-Soldier or Airman was deployed in Iraq or Afghanistan. This is Missouri’s way of thanking O’Fallon Casting for hiring returning veterans.”
